General & family dentistry · Bulimba
The dentist for people who'd rather not go to the dentist.
We're a small practice on Oxford Street. Our fees are published on this page, our appointments run long enough to do things properly, and nobody here will lecture you about how long it's been.
If it's been a while
Most people who ring us haven't been in years.
Avoiding the dentist is extremely common, and it's usually self-reinforcing — the longer you leave it, the more you dread what you'll be told. So we've built the practice around making that first visit as small a step as possible.
- The first visit is a conversationBook a chat instead of a check-up if you'd prefer. You stay in the ordinary chair, nothing goes in your mouth, and we work out a plan together. It's a 20-minute appointment and it's free.
- You'll get the full picture before anything startsFindings, options, costs and what happens if you do nothing — in writing, so you can take it home and think about it.
- Stop signals that actually workRaise your hand and we stop. Not "in a second" — immediately. Agreed before we begin, every time.
- No commentary on your teethYou will not be told off. You already know it's been a while; being made to feel bad about it is why people stay away for another five years.
- Longer appointmentsWe book 45 minutes where most practices book 30, so nothing is rushed and there's room for breaks.
Treatments
General and family dentistry
We're a general practice. For anything specialised — complex surgery, orthodontics, implants in difficult cases — we'll refer you to someone who does it every day rather than attempt it occasionally.
Check-up and clean
Examination, scale and polish, fluoride, and X-rays where they're clinically indicated. Usually every six to twelve months.
Fillings and restorations
Tooth-coloured composite for most cases. We'll explain when a filling is the right answer and when a crown will last longer.
Toothache and emergencies
We hold slots each day for people in pain. Ring in the morning and we'll usually see you the same day.
Children's dentistry
First visit around the first birthday, then routine care. Bulk billed for children eligible under the CDBS.
Crowns, bridges and veneers
For teeth that are heavily filled, cracked or worn. We'll show you what's involved and how long each option typically lasts.
Night guards and grinding
Custom splints for clenching and grinding — often the cause of jaw ache, headaches and worn-down front teeth.
Root canal treatment
To save a tooth with an infected nerve. Straightforward cases here; complex ones referred to an endodontist.
Extractions
When a tooth can't be saved. We'll always tell you first whether it can be, and what replacing it would involve.
Fees & health funds
Our prices are on the website.
Very few dental practices publish fees, which is why so many people arrive braced for a bill they can't predict. These are our standard fees including GST. Item numbers are shown so you can compare them against your health fund's schedule.
Health funds
We accept every Australian health fund and have HICAPS on site, so your rebate is claimed at the desk and you only pay the gap. We're not a preferred provider for any single fund — that keeps our advice independent of anyone's contract.
Children — CDBS
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule covers up to $1,158 of basic dental care over two calendar years for eligible children aged 0–17. We bulk bill it, so there's nothing to pay and nothing to claim back. Check eligibility in your myGov account.
Paying over time
Treatment over $500 can be split into instalments through DentiCare, with no interest and no credit check. We'll set it up at the appointment if you'd like it.
Veterans and pensioners
We treat DVA Gold and White Card holders under the department's schedule at no cost to you. Queensland public dental patients with a current voucher are welcome under the General Dental Scheme.

Things you can check for yourself
Health practices in Australia aren't permitted to publish patient testimonials, so instead of asking you to take someone else's word for it, here's what's factually true about the practice.
- Established 2014Same two rooms on Oxford Street since we opened. Dr Farrell has owned the practice throughout.
- 45-minute appointmentsStandard for check-ups, where thirty minutes is the industry norm. Fewer patients per day, by design.
- Same clinician each visitContinuity matters more than convenience. You won't be rotated through whoever is free.
- Digital X-raysSubstantially lower radiation dose than film, and you see the image on the screen at the same time we do.
- Written quotes as standardItemised with item numbers before any treatment begins, so you can check it against your fund.
- Wheelchair accessibleLevel entry from Oxford Street, accessible bathroom, and a hearing loop at reception.
- ParkingTwo dedicated spaces behind the building, plus two-hour street parking on Godwin Street.
- SterilisationBench-top steam steriliser with batch tracking, audited annually against ADA infection-control guidelines.
- Referral networkNamed specialists for endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and orthodontics, all within 15 minutes.
